Karina Smigla-Bobinski lives and works as a freelance artist in Munich and Berlin in Germany. She studied painting and visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland and Munich, Germany. She works as an intermedia artist with analogue and digital media. She produces and collaborates on projects ranging from interactive and mixed reality art in form of installations, objects, in-situ&online-art-projects, art interventions and multimedia physical theatre performances, to digital and traditional painting, analogue interactive installations or kinetic sculptures. She is also a lecturer in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg (Germany). Her work has been shown in 32 countries on 5 continents.

ADA (2010) is a post-industrial "creature", visitor animated, creatively acting artist-sculpture, self-forming artwork, resembling a molecular hybrid, such as a one from nanobiotechnology. She develops the same rotating silicon-carbon-hybrids, midget tools, miniature machines able to generate simple structures. Filled up with helium, floating freely in room, a transparent, membrane-like globe, spiked with charcoals that leave marks on the walls, ceilings and floors - marks which ADA produces quite autonomously, although moved by a visitor. The globe obtains aura of liveliness and its black coal traces, the appearance of being a drawing. The globe in action fabricates a composition of lines and points, which remains incalculable in their intensity, expression and form. However hard the visitor tries to control, to drive, to domesticate her, whatever he tries out, he will very soon notice that ADA is an independent performer, studding the originally white walls with drawings and signs. A more and more complicated fabric structure arises. ADA up rose in nowadays spirit of biotechnology. She is a vital performance-machine, and her patterns of lines and points, get more and more complex as the number of the audience playing-in increases. The title is a tribute to Ada Lovelace.
